Smoke is the hardest note in perfumery because real smoke is a thousand molecules arguing. Our atelier builds it instead from three voices: frankincense for the lift, cade for the char, and a whisper of birch tar for the memory of fire.

The balance is decided in daylight and checked again at night — smoke reads differently against warm skin in a dark room, and Ombre Noire was finished at 2 a.m. for exactly that reason.
